The Last One | Little Black Dress Kit Club

It's been such a great ride. I'm sad to see it has ended. Little Black Dress Kit Club has closed it's doors, but I wanted to take some time and share the last kit with you all. This is the June Kit.

Oh how I wish I could share her perfect, sweet, beautiful, chubby round face with you! Just picture the most beautiful smiling baby there in that blurry area. The color purple has been growing on me since having a baby girl in the house.

I'm not a fan of glitter. I might even have a bit of a glitter-phobia. Is there an official term for it? Might have to go look that up sometime. I used the included Thickers anyway and maybe they aren't so bad.

Can't go wrong with circles and fun, bright patterns. I chose black and white photos so the photo colors wouldn't clash with the paper colors. And I just love black and white photos anyway—always have.

This kit has so many brights AND neutrals. Here's a layout showcasing the neutrals.

Super simple card—perfect for a guy. It matches my typewriter beautifully.

Thanks for stopping by!

Little Black Dress | April Kit

The blog has been seriously neglected lately, but I'm back today with my monthly Little Black Dress layouts. The kit this month is so very bright and colorful! Check out the blue polka dots in the layout below--it's from Maggie Holmes' new line with Crate Paper. I stamped, painted, and misted all with the same Mister Huey color (Bookworm).

Little Black Dress April kit--patterned paper: Crate Paper & Glitz Design | storybook title page, crossword puzzle page (puzzle banner), game tile, baker's twine | small alpha stickers: Glitz Design [non-kit items- white cardstock: American Crafts | Silhouette SD (font: Oblik) | Mister Huey | arrow stamp: Ormolu |tiny tag die: Quickutz | tiny attacher]

More circles again on the next layout. I was so excited to find those Freckled Fawn Wood Chips in the kit! Uncle JJ and Aunt KK got to spend a couple weeks in Illinois over the winter holidays. Caught this sweet moment while running Sunday-after-church errands.

Little Black Dress April kit-- patterned paper: American Crafts Dear Lizzy | alpha stickers: Glitz Design | wood veneer: Freckled Fawn [non-kit items- white cardstock: Neenah | mist: Studio Calico | pencil | date stamp: Studio Calico (past LBD kit)]

...And ughhh, more snow. We are so ready for spring in this house even though that is when farming picks up and I have to get into single mom mode. It was so weird to make a wintery layout with this kit, but I did it. I even got out some modeling paste to create the illusion of snow drifts.

Little Black Dress April Kit-- patterned paper: My Mind's Eye | "March" banner: Pretty Little Studio | graph paper | clear gemstone trim  [non-kit items-- white cardstock: Neenah | snowflake punch: Martha Stewart | date stamp: Studio Calico (past LBD kit) | modeling paste: Liquitex | "Seriously" stamp: Ormolu]

Gave myself a nasty papercut while finishing up this one. Crazy how much pain a little papercut can inflict. Moved on from circles to squares in this one. Some kids eat olives like this, but Lucas prefers raspberries (and I don't blame him....olives....YUCK).

I'll be back in the next day or two to share a couple cards and tags with the Little Black Dress, Don't Worry Be Happy, April kit.

And don't forget to check out the other design team members blogs while you're at it. Tara Anderson is also our guest designer this month too!

Little Black Dress | March Kit

The March Little Black Dress kit—A Chance for Luck— is now for sale. It's such a fun kit with lots of neutrals and pops of color.

I love the neutral color palette on the layout below, and love how the title stands out in black. Sunday mornings we get up super early (for me anyway) and go to church. When we get home, we all put on some comfy clothes and head back to bed for a nap. Sounds silly, right? We love our lazy Sundays. Lucas always picks out a book to read before his nap.

Next up is a 4x4 mini album. You can see more of the album here. It may be small, but there's plenty of room for stories, notes, and photos for one super special baby girl. I love the corrugated piece as a cover. It's perfectly flexible, yet still sturdy.

And last but not least, I decorated a couple small gift boxes with the kit contents. I could use another yard of that fun turquoise trim!

Little Black Dress Kit Club | Cards

Just popping in to share some cards made with the February kit from Little Black Dress: A Trim in Time.
There's always such fabulous trims and ribbons in each and every kit.

I used the wide, wired houndstooth ribbon as the base to my cupcake.

Little Black Dress | January

Ugh, where did January go? Here's two layouts made with the January Little Black Dress Kit: Every Little Piece

Gotta love Meijer and their FREE horse ride! We love shopping at Meijer—It's SO MUCH BETTER than Wal-Mart! So there's the free horse ride, and then next to it there's the not free claw machine. Now that Lucas is totally obsessed with Toy Story, he really wants to do it, but I have to crush his dreams every time because we're just not going to start that.

I'm totally in love with my fringed moccasin boots, and I found these cute mini fringed boots for a baby girl (on clearance at Old Navy) when we had the twins. They are just too cute, I couldn't bear to return them even if there would never be another sweet baby girl in this house to wear them. And it's crazy how we got another placement so soon, and they are perfect for her. She looks so darn adorable wearing them. It's so much more fun to dress baby girls! There's hidden journaling in the cute little polka dotted kraft bag that came in the kit.

Hey Hey

Look what I found! One of my recent Little Black Dress Kit Club layouts made the Crate Paper blog! I'm a little behind in blog reading and just stumbled across it.

My last Design Team gallery with Elle's Studio is live. The January gallery at Write. Click. Scrapbook is up for perusing too. You can find me over on the Ormolu blog on Thursday next week. My scrapbooking area and supplies have been pretty lonely lately. I'm buried in graphic design work and can't wait to make time for playing with paper.

and because every post should have a photo....
I embraced the camera this week.

Little Black Dress December & An Announcement

Here's what I did with the Little Black Dress December Kit, A Swanky Notion. This is such an amazing kit! The kit includes the 12x12 Studio Calico Burst Mask. I actually squealed with delight when I opened box and saw it! I hope I have some time to make some more with it before the next delivery arrives and takes over my desk. Oh! And there's My Mind's Eye Enamel Dots too!! So much fun!!

First up is a layout with photos from a backyard picnic we had this past summer. I cut some circles and laid them out on the page, decided where I wanted photos, and then stitched the circles in place. The misting with the mask should have been done before that step, but I just didn't plan ahead this time. I love the yellow with the bright contrasting blue blanket in the photos.

Next is a layout about how we always get a real Christmas Tree. I used the mask again, and this time did it first thing--before doing anything else. Went to my Silhouette and cut out a few pine branch looking shapes that I think came pre-loaded in my library. I designed the title in Silhouette Studio. I think the fonts are Screengem & Sofia. The tree shape was cut with a punch by EK Success and then decorated with sequin trim from the kit.

We have yet to get our tree this year. I'm hoping we can check that off the list this weekend.

Hey, it's my favorite cousin and I again. I LOVE the vintage photos I have of the two of us, and I think Little Black Dress kits are always just so perfect for scrapping them! There's such a great, interesting mix of papers this month. The trim, vellum, and tiny gold alphas kinda scream Christmas to me, but the rest of the kit doesn't. I love this mix of gold Christmassy accents with a non-traditional Christmas color scheme and non Christmas themed papers.

The garland looking trim is wired so I just bent it into the shape of the star and used one little staple with my Tiny Attacher to attach it to the page.

And now for my big announcement! A new design team has been picked over at Ormolu, and I'm on it! I can't wait! I'm joining Jen Kinkade and Angie Gutshall again, along with six others I'm looking forward to getting to know and work with.
