Some Design Work

Matt and I worked at Life for Youth Camp in Vero Beach, Florida for almost 2 years. I have the privilege of taking care of all of their design work for Summer Camp each year. The brochure has been done for awhile which is what I'm sharing with you today.  …And I can't wait to share the t-shirt artwork with you, but I'll have to wait until it is all finalized. If you have kids and live in Florida, you should look into sending them to LFYC for a week...or two...or three. They will have a blast!
You can view the entire brochure here.

Blog Hoppin'

I'm so glad you stopped by today, and hope you enjoy my items. There are 3 papers and 2 journaling spots for you.

I also have a couple digital items for sale in my Etsy store—the full kits are on sale for $2.00 (what a steal!) until Sunday, November 14th.  …And as far as my non-digital items go, there are quite a few items that ship free in honor of the upcoming holidays, so please consider hopping on over to see what else my store has to offer as well.

UPDATED: The blog hop is now over. You can find the mini kit in my Etsy store for only $1.00

It's done!!

The Trick or Treat kit is new in my Etsy shop today. Now I have a new design project that I must finish this week, so it will probably be a little quiet around here (as usual).

My first mini kit!

At the beginning of the summer I took Jessica Sprague's Art of Digital Design Class. All my class materials have been submitted, and I passed the test. I wanted to offer you my mini kit for free. Soon I'll have the full-size kit available in my Etsy store. I've been wanting to do digital scrabook design for awhile and this was the perfect jumping off point for me. Look for more kits and products for digital scrapbooking in the coming months.
Download Mini Kit

If you downloaded the kit, please leave me a comment and let me know. I'd love to get an idea of how many people have stopped by.

my first gocco attempt

I successfully burned a gocco screen on the first try! I think my background in printing, specifically screen printing, seriously boosted my confidence in this task. Now when it comes to choice of ink, I failed miserably. I've been reading a lot of forums about gocco related "stuff" and someone said they successfully used versatex screen printing ink instead of gocco ink. I thought I'd give that a try since I could order it through Dick Blick and it would be here the next day. It was just way too thin. I cleaned up the screen and tried some plain old oil paint next, but I wasn't happy with the color.
Eventually after all the messing around with ink and colors the screen got clogged and I couldn't push any ink through so I gave up. I wasn't about to burn another screen and I need to get these invites in the mail, so I don't have time to find and wait for gocco ink to arrive.
I redesigned the text and printed it out on an inkjet transparency and attached it to the photo instead.

Summer Camp at LFYC

Have I really not posted since October??? (I was dealing with first trimester "ickiness" back then.) Glad I'm way past that, now I'm looking forward to that crazy nesting time to kick in.

The Life for Youth Camp brochure has been complete for a few weeks now. It's up on the web site and ready for viewing. You can view the whole thing here.

LFYC T-Shirt

Not only did I get to design the brochure, but I also got to design the summer camp T-shirt! The bottom design was the first draft and the top design is most recent draft. As you can see, the theme for the summer is "Wake Up!."

LFYC Summer Brochure

Here it is! The cover of the Summer 2008 Life for Youth Camp brochure. This is the third consecutive year I have designed the brochure for them. When all the editing is completed I will post the entire brochure to the camp web site at www.lifeforyouthcamp.com. Sherri, the camp co-director sent me a wonderful note concerning the brochure, "We absolutely love it. God has certainly blessed you with talent. GREAT JOB VALERIE!"
