Just a Few | Elle's Studio
Saturday, January 5, 2013
Hey Hey
Look what I found! One of my recent Little Black Dress Kit Club layouts made the Crate Paper blog! I'm a little behind in blog reading and just stumbled across it.
My last Design Team gallery with Elle's Studio is live. The January gallery at Write. Click. Scrapbook is up for perusing too. You can find me over on the Ormolu blog on Thursday next week. My scrapbooking area and supplies have been pretty lonely lately. I'm buried in graphic design work and can't wait to make time for playing with paper.
and because every post should have a photo....

The scribbles in the background were created with a Versamarker watermark pen and gold embossing powder. Really fun technique! I'm loving the gold trend right now!
Check back tomorrow for Little Black Dress sneak peeks!

Another month, another great design team gallery full of inspiration over at Elle's Studio! There's a lot of Halloween in the gallery this month. Elle's Studio | World Card Making Day
I'm celebrating World Card Making Day today with Elle's Studio. Elle created this fun printable for the occasion. It's been marked down this weekend only (Oct. 6 & 7)—it's on sale for only $2. (See below for a giveaway.)
I played around with mist & a mask, stamp ink, large sequins and thread to create this fun confetti card for a birthday. I used a pencil eraser to stamp the small circles.

Elle's Studio | October Inspiration Gallery
The Elle's Studio October Inspiration Gallery went live on Monday. Here's the reveal of the layout I used for my sneak peek in the blog hop. Hop on over to the gallery to see the closeups.
SUPPLIES patterned paper: Studio Calico, Crate Paper, My Mind's Eye | tags: Elle's Studio | stamp: Hero Arts + Studio Calico | flair badge: American Crafts | stamp ink: Stampin' Up
Closeups for the layout below can be found here. Does that black and white patterned paper (colored with orange) look familiar? I've used it quite a bit lately (here, here, and here). I love it so much I scoured the internet because I had to have more! It's Sassafras so it wasn't easy to find, but it must have been my lucky day. I ordered like 7-ish more sheets from Emma's Paperie.

Elle's Studio | Spooky Tales & Be Merry Blog Hop
Today we are celebrating the release of Elle’s Studio’s two new lines for Autumn and Christmas: Spooky Tales and Be Merry! These new lines are hitting the stores this week and you can also get them on their web site now!
The Spooky Tales line works great for Autumn/Fall AND Halloween! And, the Be Merry line is perfect for Christmas layouts, cards, and would work great for your December Daily! And, as a bonus, with both lines they’ve also worked in tons of tags that are perfect for Project life!
I love both these lines and the versatility they offer. The tags in both lines cover all your scrapbooking needs from October through December:
- Going to the pumpkin patch...check
- Making your child's Halloween costume.....check
- Your husband is a farmer (that's me) & it's harvest time...check
- Reflecting on Thanksgiving & all that you are thankful for...check
- Photo with Santa...check
- Going caroling....check
- and the list goes on...
Here’s a little peek of something I created for the October gallery that is debuting on October 1st.
Supplies I used in this sneak peek are: Spooky Tales Tidbits. I had so much fun making this layout and documenting last Halloween. Sometimes it pays to not scrap chronologically. I had not yet scrapped Halloween 2011, and these Elle's Studio tags were perfect for it! My October challenge every year is to make my son's Halloween costume, and that's what this layout is about. We'll see what happens when more kids come into the picture =) Mark your calendar for October 1st when the full layout will be revealed in the Design Team Gallery on the Elle's Studio web site.
Today I get to giveaway not one, but two of my favorite items from the new release to one lucky winner! Leave a comment to be entered to win a set of Spooky Tales Tidbits and Be Merry Tidbits. I’ll draw one winner on Saturday, September 29th, so make sure you check back to see if you’ve won! Please include your e-mail address in the comment so I have a way of contacting you if you win.
Don't forget to keep going! There are different prizes and winners at every stop in the hop - you have 14 total chances to WIN:

a little more Little Black Dress
I've got two more pieces to share with you that were created with the August kit from Little Black Dress.
I decorated a large shipping tag with the tulle in the kit and the Sassafras foldies. I used the Elle's Studio stamp again—this time with black embossing powder.
Thanks for looking!

And a masculine card. Seriously, I know that it is so simple, but what guy cares about awesome layers and embellishments of scrapbooking goodness from your favorite manufacturer?

Little Black Dress | August Kit | Lucky Penny
The Little Black Dress Kit Club's August kit, Lucky Penny, is available for sale. This kit is so versatile as you can see from the variety of layout topics featured below. You can click on any of the photos below to view them larger.
First up—my favorite this month. I finally hopped on the speech bubble bandwagon.
SUPPLIES Little Black Dress August kit--patterned paper: Sassafras, My Mind's Eye, Echo Park & Teresa Collins | tag: Elle's Studio | paperclip: Studio Calico [non-kit items: patterned paper: Crate Paper (brown behind text) | Silhouette SD | title font: Bebas | twine: The Twinery | camera stamp: American Crafts]
Last month I dusted off my colored pencils and this month embossing powder made an appearance. I used black embossing powder on the ampersand stamp in the layout below. It's an older stamp from Studio Calico. It came with a set of numbers that I still love, but don't use very often.

I love the photo in this one despite the crazy windswept hair. If Lucas wasn't such a strong, rugged, heavy little boy, he could have blown over that day. I handcut the clouds to go with the America Crafts Dear Lizzy printed vellum included in the kit.
I used white embossing powder with the Elle's Studio stamp below.

Elle's Studio | August Gallery
The first gallery is up over at Elle's Studio for the new design team. The gallery is loaded with inspiration, and Jill Sprott is the guest designer this month.
Matt sold his motorcycle. There was definitely some mixed feelings about it, but I think he's okay with it now. It belonged to his father first and was passed down to him on his 18th birthday. It's been a lot of work over the years. I designed the background in Illustrator and then imported it into Silhouette Studio. The design was cut into the white cardstock and then the white cardstock was backed with various strips of patterned paper. I put the Elle's Studio tags in my vintage Remington typewriter for the journaling.
I took one stamp and repeated it across the width of the card for this one. Then I got out my Copic markers and filled in some of the white spaces.

other supplies: cardstock (American Crafts), patterned paper (October Afternoon, Pink Paislee, & Crate Paper), alpha stickers (American Crafts & Prima), mist (Studio Calico), background cut with Silhouette SD (design by me)
This one uses my favorite family vacation photo from last year. We stayed with friends in Boise, Idaho. The Mister works for Youth Dynamics, and we got to go rafting with them down the Payette River (no, Lucas did not go rafting with us—the Misses stayed on the bank and watched him for us). I used a "handmade" circle template and stuck with an analogous color scheme. I love the mix of alpha stickers too.

other supplies: colored pencils, mist (Studio Calico), white card stock (American Crafts), stamp (Studio Calico/Hero Arts), badge (Evalicious), alpha stickers (Sassafras & Basic Grey), circle stencil (cut with Silhouette SD)
I've been loving photo enlargements lately if you haven't noticed. Back to the Silhouette with this one. I used the font Bullpen and made a mask and misted with Mister Huey. That "sunshine, it's hot" tag is one of my favorites.
