Little Black Dress April Kit

I've got five layouts for you this month with the Little Black Dress April kit.

First off, I got out a Crafter's Workshop 6x6 template that I've been wanting to play with for months. I centered it and masked off the remaining cardstock. I took three different mist colors in analogous shades and sprayed at random on top of the template. Added the bright orange trim from the kit and sewed a square around the misted shape. I'm still LOVING that Studio Calico alpha, so it showed up again this month on a couple layouts.

Here I used the template again, but with a different technique. I misted the template, then turned it over and placed it on the page (& repeated those steps a couple more times)—giving it a grungier look. The colors matched that transparency perfectly. I printed a couple playground photos from last summer and everything else just fell into place.

I took the package of numbers from Glitz Designs in the kit and adhered them to a sheet of kraft cardstock then put a thin layer of white paint messily on the page. Once dry, I took some steel wool to some of the painted areas where I thought it was too heavy.

Got out the white paint again for this layout. Messily applied it under the flower transparency. Added some gold embossing powder too, and heated it from the underside of the paper (no Versamark or adhesive necessary when sprinkling some powder down and heating from the underside). When using embossing powder, make sure to apply transparencies and photos after you've applied heat, or you may melt your photos or transparencies.

Lots of circles, stamping, & more messing white paint.

some cards

So I'm not much of a cardmaker, but I make at least one for Little Black Dress each month. I haven't shared any of them on my blog yet, and thought it was about time.

SC Weekly Challenge

I decided to play along & completed a layout for Studio Calico's weekly challenge. The challenge this week was to go simple. I've actually had this layout sitting on one of my workspaces for months. I just had the misting done and that green strip of paper along the top with the two photos just sitting at the bottom. It was the perfect challenge to get this layout completed. I saw the quote on the Pinterest, but I can no longer find the pin. You can view the layout in Studio Calico's member gallery here.

I did some egg decorating with the Little Black Dress March kit. You can see more of this project on their blog right here.
